Using a stun gun as a potato cannon igniter is a fun and simple DIY project. It’s a great way to introduce yourself to plumbing without breaking the bank.

Spud guns use a variety of propellants from hairspray to butane and propane. They can range in power from a few hundred volts to well over a million volts.

1. Place the Stun Gun Inside the Barrel

Stun guns are a type of electrical incapacitation device that can be used on people. They are legal in many places and can be a great tool for self-defense if you use them correctly.

A stun gun produces a low amperage, high voltage electrical charge that disrupts the communication system in your body. This charge is not strong enough to damage your skin or clothing, but it can be painful if the stun gun is applied for an extended period of time.

I was looking for a way to ignite a potato cannon and decided to use a stun gun as the spark. To do this I placed the stun gun inside the barrel, which I did by drilling and tapping two holes into the barrel.

2. Fill the Barrel with Hairspray

A stun gun is an incredibly powerful weapon that can be used to intimidate an attacker. It is a legal alternative to a firearm in most jurisdictions, although some do have restrictions on spud guns (and they are not allowed by law enforcement).

When a stun gun is fired, it creates an explosion that can be seen from a distance. Depending on the model, this can be enough to disorientate an attacker and scare them away.

Spud gun designs use a variety of materials, including plastic and aluminium piping. Dry ice can also be used to propel projectiles, as in the case of a bomb cannon, although this requires a large internal diameter piping which makes it less suitable for hand held firing.

Pneumatic spud guns fire by pumping air into a pressure chamber. The pressure inside the chamber increases and then a pressure release valve is opened, which allows the air to expand down the barrel.

3. Light the Stun Gun

If you’re a bit hesitant about firing the potato cannon at people or animals, consider using a stun gun as your igniter. This may be the safer way to deal with an attacker.

The stun gun will produce an electrical arc and snapping sound, which will scare off the potential assailant and cause them to think twice about attacking you. The stun gun can also be used to temporarily distract the assailant by emitting a bright flash of light.

These DIY weapons have a long and colorful history. They were once known as spud guns or lemon launchers and were all the rage in the early 2000s.

4. Fire the Potato

If you have a stun gun handy, this is the easiest way to fire your potato cannon. Just point the barrel in the direction you want it to fire, and then blow into a piece of tubing.

A potato cannon is a popular homemade weapon that launches potatoes into the air. They are easy to build and can be fun to shoot, but they can be dangerous if care isn’t taken when firing them.

The average potato cannon weighs a little over 10 pounds and uses a small amount of propellant. The most common propellant is hairspray, but you can also use WD-40 or White Rain.

A potato cannon can be fired from the muzzle or from a chamber, depending on how it is built. The pressure that the propellants create during combustion depends on the length of the barrel, and the higher the barrel length, the faster the projectile will travel when it reaches its maximum launch velocity.
